Bus won’t start and clearing seats

After 4th of July with family and neighbors at the beach, I had a chance to get back to my bus in this sweltering weather. July in North Carolina is when the climate gets hot and very humid you are literally walking around in open sauna area instead of enclosed sauna room.

I got to my bus and put the key in ignition. Turned it ‘ON’ and the gauge was not responding. Tried to crank it but nothing. No respond from starter. No respond from engine. Battery was dead! Not much to do here so it was onto next task. I started taking seats down.

I read in forum and facebook group that many would use 4.5″ angle grinder to grind the bolt off in order to take seats off. I decided to try with ratcheting wrench first. I asked my buddy Gary to help me while I go under the bus holding the nut with wrench. He is in the bus on the floor unscrewing the bolt. We started with last row of seat in the back of the bus and it worked OK! But by the time we get to the next row, we ran into problem. It was difficult for me to reach to the nut because of something in the way under the bus. No choice but resorting to 4.5″ angle grinder so Gary and I took turn grinding bolts and removing few seats. It was starting to get dark so Gary said he had to go home and we said our farewell. I continued and to my surprise, my renter brought me a combo meal from Arby’s. Roast beef sandwich, curly fries, and sweet tea. Oh! I love sweet tea but not too sweet one.. I am addicted to sweet tea and it will do you good to remember this! 😉 By the time I got to last seat, I ran out of blade to grind it so I couldn’t finish the last seat or the blocking piece in front of the first row seats.
